Scientists are working on a new way in which to treat hair loss, and have dubiously nicknamed it the “Vampire Treatment”. This is because injections containing the persons own blood is injected into the scalp. It is not as simple as it sounds but the idea of using blood as part of a formula has led to the name.
The blood contains platelet rich plasma (PRP) which is separated by machine from the blood and used to inject into the scalp. The idea is for the injection to stimulate the growth of new stem cells below the scalp and in turn help new hair to grow. It is a new idea and researchers are seeing some success in their results.
By using blood from the person to stimulate the regrowth of hair by producing good hair follicles it is hoped this will give an easier and less invasive way of replanting hair. The more technology and science advance the more understanding scientists have as to how our bodies work and react to different situations.
