survey claims hair transplants make you look youngerA new survey has found that balding men who get a hair transplant are being seen as younger and more attractive than those who embrace their baldness. Recipients of hair transplants are seen as approachable, successful, better looking and youthful. The results might not be surprised by many as most men feel more attractive, themselves, with more hair.

The study involved 122 adults aged between 18 and 52 years old, who looked at photos of 13 men with hair loss, seven of whom had received a hair transplant. Those seven were found more attractive than the six who had no treatment for their hair loss.

Hair transplants: an increasingly popular choice

Hair transplants are becoming very commonplace, with more than 11,000 men seeking out the treatment in 2014.  An improvement in hair transplant technology means that scarring is practically non-existent now.

There are two main hair transplant options:

Follicular Unitary Extraction (FUE) is the process were a single follicular unit is removed at a time with contains roughly 1 to 4 hairs. Once removed, these units are then prepared under a microscope and relocated to the desired position.

Another common method is Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT). In this method, a strip of skin is removed from the back of the head, with each follicular unit being prepared under a microscope to make sure it is of the best quality to be transplanted.

This process is the most cost effective as around 4000 grafts can be transplanted in a single session.

Another option?

It is worth stating that the link between hair transplants and attractiveness may have more to do with this confidence and increased self esteem than with the hairline itself.

So is it the hair transplant itself, or its impact on your self esteem? You could still feel confident and appear more attractive if you embrace your baldness.

If you’d prefer to go with the latter option and avoid the necessity of further treatments in years to come, why not try scalp micropigmentation.

SMP can help create an appearance of a fuller and thicker head of hair as well as camouflaging any scars or symptoms of conditions such as Alopecia.

SMP is a less invasive (and expensive) procedure than a full hair transplant yet yields similar effects in terms of self-confidence and a more youthful appearance.
