Injecting your own blood to grow hair back

Future Treatments, Hair Loss Drugs, SMP Information
scalp injection

scalp injectionThere’s a procedure currently being done in Reno which claims it can help balding patients regrow their own hair. It’s a somewhat scary sounding procedure, involving injecting your own blood into the scalp.

So, could this actually work or is it the latest hair loss fad?

Understanding the procedure

The procedure is being referred to as the Hair Restoration Project and it’s said to last around 90 minutes in total. This includes the harvesting of the blood, combining it with nutrients and a Acellbio matrix, before being injected into the scalp.

Local anaesthetic is provided to ensure it doesn’t hurt and recovery is also advertised as being quick and minimally painful. Patients typically only require over-the-counter pain medication to keep themselves comfortable. The procedure can also cause the scalp to swell for up to 48 hours.

The fact your own blood is used, means there’s less chance the body will fight against it. This increases its chances of success. It’s said to take around two months before you start to see hair sprouting through, with full results showing no longer than eight months afterwards.

Top-up injections will be required to maintain results every couple of years. It claims it’s a great solution for men suffering from early stage male pattern baldness or female pattern baldness.

Is it worth trying?

Unless you’re willing to travel to Reno, you’ll struggle to find this new revolutionary procedure. However, if it was introduced would it be worth trying? Possibly. However, there are already proven treatments available which would be a much safer option.

Medications, topical treatments and hair loss products can help with the early stages of hair loss. Hair transplants, SMP and laser treatment on the other hand, are all great for more severe hair loss.

Overall, the Hair Restoration Project does sound impressive, but it’s still a very new treatment. If you’re concerned about losing your hair, it’s a good idea to seek more reliable and proven treatments available right here in the UK.  If you want to find out more then don’t hesitate to give us a call at the His Hair Clinic for a free consultation on 0121 516 1767 .
