healthy hair tipsHave you ever wondered what you need to do to maintain healthy looking hair? Here, you’ll discover 9 great tips to reduce and control hair loss. However, be aware that although these tips can help, it’s important to seek help from a hair specialist or your GP to determine the cause of your hair loss.

1. Try an egg wash

Ok, so this one sounds a little gross, but it can leave the hair looking shiny, healthy and feeling awesome. Break a few eggs and whisk them together, then leave on for a few minutes before rinsing off. It is the protein within the egg which is said to help make it look and feel thicker and healthier.

2. Eat lots of antioxidant rich foods

Antioxidants are essential for the body and they can really help reduce the risk of hair loss. This is because they fight off free radicals which can cause damage to the cells, including the ones found within the hair follicles.

As well as eating antioxidant rich foods such as bananas, oranges, lemon and honey, you can also use them like the egg wash and rub them into the scalp. However, it’s worth seeking advice from a GP before you do this.

3. Massage the scalp

Simply massaging the scalp is great for blood circulation. Hair loss can occur when there’s limited circulation to the scalp, meaning it doesn’t receive enough nutrients. Try massaging it with lukewarm oils like almond and coconut oil for best results.

4. Make sure you eat a healthy diet

As well as ensuring you’re eating an antioxidant rich diet, it’s also important to ensure your diet is naturally healthy. This means eating a balanced, healthy diet and limiting the amount of processed foods you eat. Seeds and nuts are particularly great for promoting healthy hair.

5. Don’t brush wet hair

It’s always best to use a wide-tooth comb when your hair is wet, rather than a brush. Brushing it while it’s wet can damage the hair and lead to increased shedding and breakage.

6. Try out natural remedies

While natural remedies are very rarely a cure for hair loss, they can help to keep the hair healthy. If you have dandruff, vinegar is a great natural solution to eliminate it. Rubbing green tea onto the scalp I also said to reduce hair shedding.

7. Increase the number of vitamins you take

Vitamin supplements can also encourage healthy hair. Focus on Vitamins A, E and B. Vitamin A helps increase sebum production, while Vitamin E boosts blood circulation and Vitamin B helps your hair maintain a healthy colour.

8. Maintain a healthy lifestyle

Your lifestyle choices will have a significant impact on your hair. So, avoid drinking too much alcohol, smoking and watch those stress levels. Stress has been linked to hair loss, so ensuring you stay as relaxed as possible will help keep the hair healthy.

9. Stay hydrated

Water is required by all of the cells in the body to stay healthy, including the cells in your hair follicles. So, you should make sure you’re drinking plenty of water throughout the day.

Overall, the 9 tips above can help you to maintain healthy hair, but they won’t provide a cure for hair loss. If you are experiencing hair loss, be sure to consult a doctor or hair specialist as soon as possible.
