For years the wig, or hair system as it is now more commonly referred to has been the most effective way of creating the illusion of a full head of hair. There is purportedly a long list of top actors in the US, since the beginning of the movies who have prolonged their careers by the use of a carefully chosen and well maintained toupee.
It’s easy to understand why it’s the option of choice for people whose careers can depend on youthful looks. A well maintained hair piece can be the only solution to balding if the wearer wishes to return to a full head of luxuriant hair.
The downsides
Whilst the owner of an excellent hair system may delighted at the effect of a full head of hair there are some not insignificant drawbacks, particularly if it’s a well kept secret. The fear of discovery can be a constant source of anxiety and there are often severe lifestyle restrictions as a result. Normal activities such as swimming, walking in the wind and rain or just meeting new people can become a minefield, requiring lots of preparation.
A viable alternative
There is an alternative to the hair system that is becoming widely adopted by many men. it doesn’t restore the luxurious locks of an ageing filmstar but it does create the very effective illusion of a full head of hair (albeit closely cropped).

Clearly the toupee still has a place. Not everyone wants the close cropped look and there really is no other way of recreating a full head of long hair but as far as illusions go, SMP is highly effective and comes without the stress and restrictions of the hair system.
