Celebrities, Hair Transplant Surgery

Bollywood_Dance_LondonHair transplants are nothing new in the showbiz world, but of late we’ve noticed a growing number of Bollywood stars that are beginning to turn to hair loss procedures to ensure they have a full head of enviable hair.

The Sultan star Salman Khan is one of the most recent to undergo a hair transplant procedure and here are some of the other Bollywood stars who are known to have done the same.

Govinda

Govinda is actually reported to have undergone a hair restoration procedure after taking advice of his friend Salman Khan. It was at the time of the pair filming David Dhawan’s Partner, and Govinda later admitted it in an interview with SpotboyE.

Ranbir Kapoor

Ranbir had a hair restoration after filming Ajab Prem Ki Gjajab Kahani (2009). The actor’s hair was thinning at the front and he decided to take action early on.

Himesh Reshammiya

Once a singer, Himesh turned to hair restoration before he began his acting career in 2007, to ensure his hair looked the part.

Sanjay Dutt

Sanjay went to the US to have a strip procedure carried out many years ago. When his hair is cut short it is possible to see the horizontal scar at the back of his head from the procedure.

Why Turn To Hair Transplants?

With many people turning to hair transplants as a permanent solution to hair loss, you might be wondering exactly how they work.

Over the last two decades, there have been notable advances in our understanding of the excision and relocation of hair follicles. Add this to the fact that technology has come on leaps and bounds, and now surgeons are able to work at a microscopic level to remove individual follicles.

This combination means that surgeons are now able to deliver amazing results that were previously not possible. The result of this is a more natural looking head of hair with minimal scarring compared to years earlier.

Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) has become one of the most proven and popular techniques. A thin strip of skin is taken from the donor area at the back of the head, and then state of the art microscopy is used to prepare each follicle, ensuring it is in the best condition. Up to 4,000 follicles can be grafted in a single session, making it one of the most cost effective treatments.
