James Nesbitt's hair transplant journey

James Nesbitt's hair transplant journeyHair loss can be difficult for all men to come to terms with but those in the public gaze often feel the most exposed and vulnerable. With a youthful image to maintain, which can directly affect their popularity and often employability it’s hardly surprising that many turn to hair loss treatments to restore their previously glorious locks.

Obsessed with hair loss

The latest celebrity to talk openly about his experience of the onset of baldness and how he decided to tackle it is the Cold Feet star James Nesbitt. Naturally hirsute in the original series in the 90s Nesbitt gradually began to lose his hair and described it at first as a “concern” and then later as a “obsession”.

In an interview in 2013 he said ‘Several years ago, I began losing my hair and like a lot of men it was a major concern to me, in fact it was practically an obsession. But, also I’m an actor so I’m in the public eye a lot and I really felt that my hair loss could affect my career prospects.’

Getting cold feet?

‘So, after many agonies and a great amount of thought and believe me it’s something I didn’t take lightly, I took the decision to visit [a hair transplant clinic in Dublin].’

Mr Nesbitt eventually had two hair transplants and if the latest promotional shots for the new series of Cold Feet (returning in the Autumn after a 13 year gap) are anything to go by then they’ve been a great success with a natural look salt and pepper look that would leave many men of his age (51) envious.

Whilst the transplant route can be a long haul, with several procedures often required and significant cost it would appear that in Nesbitt’s case, at least, it was money well spent.
