There is a simple addition we can all make to our routine that would benefit our hair and much, much more besides. If you are suffering from hair loss it should definitely be on your daily agenda.
Raisin The Profile
The humble and seriously under-estimated raisin has been popular from the day someone left a few grapes out in the sun and returned a few days later to find the delicious dried remains. They have been eaten on their own or used in cooking for millennia and today are produced and consumed the world over. In the UK we reserve the word “raisin” for the results of drying a large black grape. “Currant” is used for the smaller variety and “Sultana” for the golden grape.
They all share the same incredible array of nutrients, making them an absolute no-brainer that should be on any diet. Starting with our pet favourite subject, hair loss, we look at the amazing list of benefits to be had from sprinkling raisins on your cereal every day.
Battling Hair Loss?
Top of the list when it comes to sound advice on having healthy hair is invariably around diet. The simple basics of eating the right things, doing enough exercise, and getting enough sleep are key to keeping hair in optimum condition.
Eaten daily raisins can provide vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. In addition, they have an important phytochemical called resveratrol, which helps keep cholesterol down and has been shown to help prevent cancer by neutralizing free radicals.
An Apple A Day?
We give raisins the edge over our old friend the apple. Rich in phenolic phytochemicals and antioxidants raisins can help fight off viral and bacterial infections. They are extremely high in fibre which aids digestion and keeps hunger at bay, great if you are trying to keep your weight in check. They also come with plenty of potassium and magnesium that help reduce acidity.
Healthy Bones and Teeth
High in calcium and a micronutrient called boron, raisins are recognised as helpful in the fight against osteoporosis.
Reduces High Blood Pressure
As if the list wasn’t already impressive enough. Those antioxidants, the iron, potassium, and Vitamin B complex all help reduce thickening of blood vessels. At the same time, the complete absence of sodium in the dry version of the grape is also a notable benefit.
HIS Hair Clinic
It is a magnificent list of attributes, worthy of attention we thought. We should probably all be snacking on them. Tell your friends and give them to kids as a snack.
