The Domino singer admits her locks have been damaged from being regularly prepped for stage shows and appearances. She is now using artificial tresses to keep her real hair from suffering any further harm.
“A hairdresser who did my hair said, ‘You, my darling, have something that we call successful hair’ which is basically battered hair that’s split and falling out in the back because you’ve had to blow-dry it every day,” she told the US edition of Glamour magazine.
“I don’t want my hair falling out, so I wear wigs!”
The 24-year-old star ditched her usual tomboy look for a girly shoot in the magazine. Jessie admits that without her styling team, it takes work to look good for the cameras.
“It’s so tough to explain to people. When you have half an hour to be ready at four o’clock in the morning, you don’t have time to get up and glue in extensions or blow-dry your hair,” she explained.
Jessie feels comfortable in her skin. She credits her confidence to the support of her family.
“You know what it is? I have such an amazing mum and dad who have been married for 32 years, and my sisters always made me feel like I was amazing,” she said.
“No one ever tried to suppress who I wanted to be. I never got embarrassed. Even last night, at an after-party, me and my dad were up dancing when no one else was.
“I think the best way to have confidence is not to allow everyone else’s insecurities to be your own.”
