Hollywoods favourite hair loss treatments

Celebrities

Those who suffer from hair loss all have the same feelings when they cannot accept going bald gracefully and maybe for the stars this can be worse. They are constantly in the limelight and will often try the latest treatment to keep their looks. They are the ones that can afford to spend thousands of pounds a year ensuring they look their best. Many of them will have tried every hair loss treatment that is available whether it has been approved or not.

There are only two approved treatments that supposedly work whilst the treatment is ongoing. Minoxidil and finasteride are both medically approved by the FDA (Federal Drug Administration). Minoxidil is approved for use for both men and women and is rubbed into the bald patches on the scalp on a daily basis. Finasteride is only recommended for men over the age of 18 and it is a tablet that is taken orally again on a daily basis. From then it has been seen that using both of these treatments can have a greater effect on reducing hair loss. However, once the treatment is stopped hair loss will return, it is not a permanent fixture. Both men and women with receding hairline are looking for that permanent fixture and one of the ways this can be done is through hair transplants or Scalp Micropigmentation.

Hair transplants have been tried by many Hollywood stars and to be fair, in recent years have been more successful than in the past. Hair is taken from the back and sides of the scalp and punched in to the bald patches a few hair roots at a time. It can be a painful procedure and it can leave scarring and whilst the success rate is not 100% there have been success stories. With research and advances in technology hair transplants have improved dramatically over the past few years but are not guaranteed to be a success. At one time men would have grown bald gracefully and it was a sign of maturity but today more and more men want to keep their youthful looks and this is particularly so amongst Hollywood stars and any celebrities.

Another way of covering baldness that is becoming popular amongst celebrities from all walks of life is to have scalp micropigmentation. Individual follicles are recreated on the scalp to give it a short stubbly hair look known as a buzz cut and this is a permanent solution provided the person is happy with this style over the long term.

Hair is lost from the head at an average of 100 to 150 has a day and this is normal, if large amount of hair start to come out when brushing or washing them the advice of a professional should be sought. Genetic or pattern hair loss is passed down through the generations and unfortunately is a natural process. While some treatments will help to slow this process or overcome this process, for these group of people hair loss is inevitable. Temporary hair loss through illness or medication, stress or anxiety will see regrowth once that condition has been dealt with. Seeking the advice of a professional will allow a full examination to find the possible root causes to the loss and treatments to be followed. Treatments can be combined and they will also include a healthy well-balanced diet.
