Anyone who has cancer will probably tell you one of the harshest realities is losing their hair to chemotherapy. But could chemotherapy without losing your hair actually be possible?
Creators of the “Chemo hood” would like you to think so, and a new study shows success.
The hood cools down your head so that your blood doesn’t circulate as quickly.
That means the poisons that are injected during chemo can’t reach the hair roots right away. The result: the hair roots survive.
Many of the women who joined the study did not lose their hair, and there is hope that in the future, health insurance may pay for this new method of treatment.
