Can cinnamon really stop you losing your hair?

Other solutions

People spend thousands of pounds or dollars for different hair products, hair transplants and weird and wonderful treatments that may or may not work. Could a product available for pennies at any supermarket really offer any benefit?

Traditional methods are extremely expensive and there is no guarantee the effect will be positive. If you do not want to spend a fortune on something that might not work, and you have an open mind when it comes to natural remedies, then you might give cinnamon a try.

All you need to do is find cinnamon powder or oil. If you only manage to find powder you should just mix it with some honey and olive oil until you get a paste that can be rubbed in your scalp. If you find cinnamon oil, you can directly use it. Be careful not to buy from dubious sources because they might sell you something that doesn’t contain cinnamon at all, or might be cinnamon flavoured or fragranced using synthetic materials. If the quality of the oil/powder is low, it would just have no effect and you would end up thinking that this method doesn’t work at all, without giving it a fair trial.

Cinnamon as a hair loss preventative

All you need to do is go take a bath and rub the paste/oil you have in your hair and scalp after that. Do it gently while massaging your scalp and then rinse thoroughly with water. Before you rinse it you need to wait for a few minutes in order for the paste to take effect. It is said that these mixtures will have positive effects on your scalp and hair – they would increase the blood flow to your scalp and in that way would increase the reparation processes of your hair. The massage would also add to this effect as it also stimulates the increased blood flow to the scalp. Not only the reparation of your hair be boosted but also its nourishment. The cinnamon, combined with the honey and the olive oil would bring many essential micronutrients to your hair. This would (in theory) lead to a thicker hair that would look much better.

This treatment has no scientific proof that it works, but then again nor do many alternative therapies yet people around the world claim they experience positive results. The good thing about trying this is that cinnamon is perfectly safe, and won’t cost a great deal. The worst thing that can happen is that your scalp might get irritated if the cinnamon oil is too concentrated. If this happens you only need to add some olive oil to the cinnamon oil in order to reduce the active substances. One important thing you should know is that you should never use this method if you are allergic to cinnamon as this might lead to an allergic reaction.
