Bald man refused job

bald man job

bald man jobThese days, workplace discrimination may not be as prevalent as it once was, but it’s still very much an issue for many. However, whilst it typically targets gender, race or age, one Korean man has recently discovered you can get refused a job purely because of your hair.

The bald man was refused a job and recommended he wear a wig to his next interview. This has prompted the National Human Rights Commission of Korea to reach out to the company in an effort to prevent it from happening again.

Company denies rejecting man because of his baldness

The company, which is choosing to remain anonymous, has flatly denied rejecting the man because he’s bald. Instead they claim it was because he did not have the appropriate qualifications. However, when referring him to another firm, they advised him to wear a wig.

As many men are already self-conscious about their balding locks, experiences like this are inexcusable. However, thankfully they are extremely rare. In the UK and US, job candidates would never be refused because of their baldness.

SMP could be the answer

While no man should ever feel forced to cover up their baldness, many would prefer to hide the problem if they can.  One of the fastest growing treatments for bald men is Scalp Micropigmentation or SMP.

SMP is a revolutionary procedure whereby a highly skilled practitioner injects ink pigments into the scalp. The results are an astonishingly realistic buzz cut which is indistinguishable from the real thing.

Although the name of the company hasn’t been revealed, the job was within mechanical maintenance, so the option to wear a wig would even be potentially dangerous to him as well as others  if it got caught in the machinery. Instead, SMP could have been the perfect solution to his problems.
