20th Anniversary of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS)

General Hair Loss, Hair Loss News

Hair restoration experts from around the world will commemorate the past, present and future of hair restoration surgery at the 20th Annual Scientific Meeting of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS), the world’s leading medical authority on hair loss and hair restoration.

The meeting – which will mark the 20th Anniversary of the ISHRS – will take place October 17-20, 2012, at Atlantis, Paradise Island, the Bahamas.

More than 500 physicians and surgical assistants dedicated to advancing the art and science of hair restoration are expected to attend this premier Continuing Medical Educational event, which offers interactive sessions, live patient viewing, video surgery in high definition, expert panels and guest speakers.

The theme of this year’s meeting, “Celebrating 20 years of Research, Education and Collegiality,” highlights the tremendous technological and scientific advances in hair restoration over the past 20 years.

In addition, presentations will address the future of hair restoration surgery, a highly refined surgery which permanently restores hair loss to the scalp and non-scalp areas of the body.

Each year, hot topics that are presented include the latest diagnostics and clinical applications for hair loss, factors that contribute to hair loss in women, refinements in non-scalp hair transplantation (including eyelash and eyebrow transplantation), the role of robotic technology in hair restoration surgery, and updates on new research in hair cloning and growth factors as future resources for new hair growth.

Founded in 1993, the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) is a non-profit medical association with a membership of over 850 physicians worldwide dedicated to the advancement of the art and science of hair restoration. The mission of the ISHRS is to achieve excellence in patient outcomes by promoting member education, international collegiality, research, ethics, and public awareness.
